There’s something truly special about photographing a newborn inside their own home. It’s the space where the rocking happens. Where you’ve been curled up on the couch during midnight feeds. Where the tiny outfits are still neatly folded and the crib has just been made.
This particular session started in a cozy Spring Hill home and ended near a family barn, surrounded by golden light and rustic charm—and I loved every minute of it.
In-home sessions are the easiest, most relaxed option—because I come to you. No rushing out the door or packing the diaper bag. Everything you need is already there.
These sessions focus on real-life connection: cuddles on the bed, nursing breaks on the couch, little fingers holding yours with familiar surroundings in the background.
When I arrive, I’ll take a look around your home to find the best natural light. I might ask you to move a chair or shift the bassinet near a window for a better setup, but otherwise I keep things simple and candid.
If we use your bedroom (which we often do!), light-colored duvets—creams, whites, and pastels—tend to photograph best. Muted tones always pair beautifully with a newborn’s skin.
I’ll never rush your baby or push for poses that don’t feel right. If your little one is wide awake, that’s okay. If they need to eat halfway through, we take a break. Your baby leads the way.
If you’d like posed baby portraits (like gentle swaddled shots on the bed or in your arms), I recommend scheduling the session before your baby is two weeks old. That’s when they tend to sleep deeply enough for those soft, curled-up images. Otherwise, lifestyle sessions work wonderfully with more awake, alert babies.
And yes—siblings, pets, and sentimental items are always welcome to join in. This session is about your life as it is, right now.eed fancy props or styled sets. You just need your space, your story, and a little trust in the process.
After we finished the in-home portion, we stepped outside and walked to a family barn tucked into the backyard. Weathered wood, open sky, and golden light made for the perfect contrast to the cozy indoor moments.
This quick second location gave us:
It doesn’t take much to make magic—just trust, natural light, and the story you’re already living.
Mixing locations is one of my favorite ways to make your session truly yours.
Start inside, end outside. Bring the dog. Use the rocking chair from your own childhood. Or let’s take a walk to your favorite backyard spot. It’s your story—we just get to freeze it for a moment.

There’s a common myth floating around that newborn photos have to happen within the first two weeks of life. And while those early days do make for sweet, sleepy portraits, I’m here to tell you something important:
It’s not too late.
Older newborns—whether they’re 6, 8, or even 10 weeks old—are still very much in that tender new stage. Their expressions are changing, their eyes are bright, and their little personalities are starting to peek through. And when I take your session outside? There’s something extra magical that happens.
Those first few weeks can feel like a blur. You’re healing. You’re adjusting. You’re barely sleeping. Sometimes, just getting through the day feels like a win.
I want you to know:
Your baby is still perfect for photos.
You didn’t miss anything.
Older newborns may not curl up as tightly, but they bring their own kind of beauty:
It’s a different kind of session—but in all the best ways.
If your baby is past that early sleepy phase, your session will look a little different than a “fresh 48.” But that doesn’t make it any less meaningful.
Here’s what I typically see with older newborns:
You don’t need to worry about your baby being “too awake” or “too wiggly.” I promise—some of the most heartfelt images I’ve taken were of wide-eyed, wriggly newborns just being their little selves.
When you step outside, everything softens. The filtered light, the fresh air, the natural textures—they create a relaxed space where everyone can breathe a little easier.
Outdoor newborn sessions are especially lovely for older babies. Here’s why:
These sessions often feel more like a quiet walk with your baby than a photo shoot—and the images reflect that same sense of ease and connection.
I hear it all the time:
“She’s already 7 weeks… did I miss the window?”
“I really wanted newborn photos, but life got busy.”
“Can we still do it?”
Yes. You can.
You’re right on time.
This isn’t about capturing perfection—it’s about preserving this part of the journey. It’s about storytelling, connection, and celebrating your baby exactly as they are right now.
Whether I meet you in your home or out in the golden light of Spring Hill, your session will reflect your baby’s unique rhythm—and your love for them in this exact season.
